Women's Work May Mini Festival

Join us for readings from scripts developed by members of our Women’s Work Full-Length Lab.

Our May Mini Festival is back live and in-person for the first time in two years! The Women’s Work Full-Length Lab provides the opportunity for writers to develop new plays, or a script already in progress. The Festival provides the opportunity to bring this work before the public in various stages and for the writers to benefit from audience feedback. This year’s scripts are from LAB playwrights Zakeia Tyson-Cross and Catherine Weingarten (FIRST LOOK), Joan Castagnone (UP & COMING) and Michele Miller and Jennie Contuzzi (READY FOR PRIMETIME).

Seating will be extremely limited & all attendees must provide proof of vaccination.

NOTE: Due to the rise of covid-19 cases, we will not be holding receptions. The roundtable/panel will now also be fully virtual.

And they have invited a few women who have gone before to join them in a conversation about how to make that a reality.

READY FOR PRIME TIME: TRIBE by Jennie Contuzzi , directed by Melody Brooks @ 7:00 pm

Inspired by the YA novel genre, playwright Jennie Contuzzi imagines a world divided, not by race or class, but by a person's time of birth! In this society, the Brights rule and the Nightborns submit. The Tribes, organized gangs of young Brights, are meant to keep the peace and enforce the rules. But change is coming, and key players on both sides will be caught in a deadly conflict that will redefine the status quo.
